#1 Post by joe »

anyone have any experiance with this scope? this is a first focal plane scope which i understand is true at all magnfications.. the object lense is x32, will that pose a problem ? normally i see shooters with x 44 etc?? it will go on my L129A1 striaght pull when it arrives, will be using it for CSR and shooting at bisley up 800 yards

cheers

You can certainly shoot 1000 yards and more with a 32x 'scope so that is not an issue. Other than that I know nothing about the 'scope but the L129A1 looks interesting.

My Nightforce is 2.5 - 10 x 24 and I don't have a problem using it out to 600 yards in CSR matches. Having said that the never version of my scope now comes with 32 mm objective.

I was reading that a bigger objective lense is better because it let's in.more light? ?? apparently an objective lense of x 44 is the optium

Oops, yes you are quite right. So it is a 2.5-10 magnification with 32mm objective. I shoot a lot with 'scopes in the 10/12 and 16X magnification range and they all work perfectly well to 1000 yards however they tend to have objectives around the 50-56mm range. the 32mm will not let as much light in however on a reasonable day that is not a huge issue as you are shooting at targets. If possible I would suggest trying it first as there is more to a 'scope than just the objective, things like glass coatings and positive clicks and repeatable tracking are also important.

I have just bought a Viper PST 1-4 x 24 to use for CSR out to 500 a few others have them also.
Seems like a good value optic.
Service optic class is limited to 4.bowl ( as RN-subbie reminded me last time )
Haven't found the 24 to be a worry, its plenty bright enough

So a PST 2.5-10 x 32 should be up to the job for CSR.

Having spent 3.5K on a rifle I must say I'm surprised to see you go for the budget end of the scope market.
Surely some nice S&B would be more appropriate?

You can always upgrade the 'scope at a later date and meanwhile at least you will be able to shoot the new rifle and who knows, the 'scope might be perfect for your needs.

very true I was orginally looking at us optics or night force but cost over £1000! the vortex pst 2.5-10 x 32. has alot of good reviews from the states only concerned low light conditions with a 32x objective lense! that huge sight that army use on the l129a1 costs £2000!

It used to be said you spend the money on the scope and the loose change on the rifle
