Enfield Enforcer or M85

#1 Post by LONG RANGE CAPT »

I'm fancying an old school rifle like the Parker Hale M85 or the Enfield Enforcer or similar. Some thing a bit retro and classic looking.

But I'd like one in near new condition / unused condition - where's the best place to get one ?

Has anyone owned one of these and what are they like of accuracy ?

Kind Regards

BEST place to get one would be about 1986 or 1987, from memory they were all new & unused back then but most folk were using self loaders

Yip - a few folk have owned them & they of accuracy do have

Aside from the fact that the only real thing they have in common is the caliber, the 2 rifles are quite different from each other

I'd suggest you find a good used Parker Hale 1200TX for about £250 and save yourself a couple of grand....

Enforcer: about £1200 - 1400 for a decent one. Oh, and be careful of the faked and re-created ones....

Anything "factory" - Envoy, Enforcer, L39, L42 - is collectable and thus relatively expensive. However, anything built from identical components by a gunsmith (eg Fultons) can be had for upwards of £100 or so.

The Gunshop East Barnet lists Enfield Envoy's one fitted with a scope the other original Parker Hale 5C target sights, both around the £800 mark. C&G has listed 3 ex RAF L39's but missing the target sights at £650 you can pick these sights up off e-bay for around £150+ or see Fred at the Bisley range office he has several for sale, (I just got one from him for a No4 last week). My Envoy shoots very well out to 900 with match ammo, (not used any further yet). Seen several Enforcer/L39's style rifles on Gunstar recently.

Apart from Norman Clark are there any companies who could put together a L42A1 / Parker Hale T4, look alike from unissued parts ?

As Alpha says PH4 £250 I saw one the other week on Gunstar for £150 they do shoot very well, L42A1 £5K plus there are some replicas about a bloke at our club has one, and very nice it is too, for the uninitiated you wouldn't be able to tell it apart from an original, there was a complete L42 kit on guntrader recently for £10K but I suppose that is a fair price   considering the lens cleaning brush container is apparently worth £700-1200 I kid you not kukkuk

The Parker Hale T4 is a very overlooked rifle I've had mine since 1987 when I had to replace my L1A1 . For some reason the Enforcer attracts all the fanboys but the T4 is built on the same No4 receiver and it has a free floating heavy hammer forged barrel.
What it isn't is a cool looking tactical style rifle but it will shoot as well as a 7.62 rifle costing 3 times the price. I feed mine mil surp ammo and while I don't get many v bulls at 600 yds it's a reasonably cheap afternoon's shooting.

We'd prefer a P14, either original or in Target configuration.
