irish Police - Shooting "Olympics"

#1 Post by Chuck »

Irish Police Shooting Olympics - I've never heard of this and can't find anything on "wespyonyou" (google) so I am wondering if any of our police and / or NI members can enlighten me?

Does such a thing exist, seemingly happening about now and involves different police teams from home and abroad competing (I would imagine) in a big police only "practical" competition.

I know there already is practical pistol in NI    but I am told there is a specific BIG event on or around now for police only that takes up a lot of the licensing depts. time.. Anyone able to shed light on this??.

Also does anyone know the name of the head of Firearms Licensing in PSNI?

You can PM me if you so wish as it is fairly urgent.

Cheers,
Chuck

I guess you mean the World Police and Fire Games, which were held in Belfast this month. It was a multi-sport event with 7000 competitors, not just a 'shooting olympics', but it did have events that you don't find a most other games, like this one.

It was as already said the police and fire games held in Belfast. There were police from all over the world taking part in shooting and other competitions. The Finnish SWAT team getting ready for competition. PS If you mean did police from the Republic of Ireland and UK police PSNI take part yes.
