Think it refers to setting the brake at an angle so that the gas escaping from its ports will reduce the rotational motion of the rifle by countering the force exerted by the spinning bullet.GazMorris wrote:Hi Ovenpaa, ovenpaa wrote: I would say it is designed to work with a shim stack for the correct timing of the brake.
That's something I've never heard of before. What do you mean by "timing" in the context of muzzle breaks? Never having used one (being against the rules in TR) it's something I know little or nothing about.

Muzzle control and to annoy the person next to you heheheBlu wrote:Why would one even need a muzzle break on a .223/5.56?

Muzzle control on a .223/5.56? You're kidding right? I have two semi auto AR's in 5.56 and they both shoot boringly accurate all day long, the muzzle barely moves. If someone has a problem with muzzle control on a .223/5.56 then they aren't holding the rifle properly.Jame5m wrote:Muzzle control and to annoy the person next to you heheheBlu wrote:Why would one even need a muzzle break on a .223/5.56?

You'd be surprised at the recoil difference between a semi and straightpull .223 rifle! Its massively disproportionate compared to say a semi and pump shotgun. Its still by no means harsh but its enough to mess up your sight picture if you're using a med-high power scope.Blu wrote:
