The Dragunov is the paratrooper/Spetsnaz version with a folding polymer and steel stock and shortened barrel and it would usually have a black plastic pistolgrip and handguards but I'm a sucker for Russian laminated wood so sourced the SVD handguards and very rare laminated wood pistolgrip from a contact in the Ukraine.I have still got the original parts as they are quite rare themselves as the handguards are the correct military spec ones.

Re: Rifle pics
The reference to the SVD reminded me of this cold October afternoon. Three of us shooting at 600 yards, the end of the day was an impromptu competition to see who could place 5 well placed rounds in the fastest time. The Viking had a superb group in around the 11 second mark, sadly they were all at 7 O'clock

A .308 Dragunov would compliment that collection nicelysnayperskaya wrote:Hi, New here and thought I'd post a couple of pics of my rifles :)

The Straight pull SVD in 54R is quite a capable rifle to 800m with light ball and beyond that heavy ball although a tad spiteful groups well. I was shooting at either 800 or 1000 one bitterly cold and windy March morning alongside the Viking, I was struggling to hold the 2 ring with an Accuracy International and on more than one occasion fell off the black of the standard 600m target, I had probably 8 mils of wind dialled in. She however seemed to be doing quite well and was holding the 3 ring with every shot so I asked her how much wind age she had on, a couple of clicks she replied, (dim woman) so she was aiming off, I asked where she was aiming and she replied just to the right of the V.
She was aiming at target 5 to get on target 6. That would have been with 54R light ball. She sold the rifle soon afterwards because she could not get on with and to fund her 22C.
Moral of the story is the standard 54R SVD works quite well with milsurp.

Re: Rifle pics
breacher......I can't access pm's yet :)
Ovenpaa........was she using a Russian scope?, I have a Russian 8x42 on mine and it is very easy to dial in.When I bought my Dragunov I was advised to shoot nothing else for 12 months and get to know it inside out.
There is a Russian guy where I work who was a Spetsnaz sniper during the First Chechen War and he has given me a lot of tips on shooting a Dragunov accurately, which is handy :)

She used to shoot with a 3-9 variable, possibly a 1P21. It was a while ago.
