Yep it has...I'm not sure why it has been ok in some cases, and not in others. Typical of the firearms laws in this country though!!
Right im not going to hijack this thread anymore. this will be my last post
but I think the SLR's and others were made from primarily unissued parts so just the barrel had to be made and that meant that they had never been an S5. whereas if you were to get a whole gun and take out the gas parts (I know there aren't gas parts in a sterling)
it would be section 5.

Ares, you make a good point and this is an area I am not totally clear on as some of the ex S5 rifles I have seen certainly bear the patina and marks of many years of service unless they had a hard life in the stores. Others look virtually un-issued.

We're very wary of the quality of the metal used in some SGC products...
