'Ironing out the bugs' is one thing, but with a Mas you might as well melt it down...I was going to say 'and start again', but thinking about the metal quality you could be better off making a boot scraper or such with it razz

That's a interesting remark have you ever fired a mas36 its one of the most accurate military rifles I have ever fired. Every one who has fired mine is impressed with its accuracy. Its so accurate I would never dream of parting with it.

Sorry Martin, we have digressed some what ( )...

...as you already have some nice classics, and are specifically looking for 7.62 NATO/.308 Win, it does lead towards Enfields...there's converted 'sporters' like the one on the 'take 2' thread...there's a verity of old converted TR rifles...and probably the best suggestion so far (forgot who said it) is the Envoy; which is a lovely rifle that can be shot TR style (sling and aperture sights) or 'scoped up' with good results...

...also, as Shuggie points out, an old Swing can be pimped up into a respectable F/TR rifle, with an action that will happily cope with ammo that's still super-sonic at 1000 yards.

No I've not fired one...I had a really good look at one on Adams stand and thought it was proper ugly...and I can't help feeling that folk can only be impressed by it's accuracy due to fact that after seeing it they can't believe it's hit the target board razz

I hope you realise that some of what I'm saying is 'tongue in cheek' - At the moment I'm mainly interested in classics I can shoot competitively...but if I ever had the time and money to put together a full collection I'm sure I'd find a place for one

Yes as Neil said about the Envoy as well! I know my club has one but not sure they will sell it. Also I need to have a good look at the barrel as it's not been shot in while!

I also need to get the old Musgrave valued.
