Falcon Scope 1.5-5

Salut,

I am in the market for a vari low power scope to be used from 0 to 200 meters going to 300 top max with a un-complicated illuminated reticule. Mil-dots are not necessary, on balance I'd favor quicker simple target acquisition .
Budget ? nothing that breaks the bank, £200/250 bracket.
I am looking at Second-hands but was also looking at a brand-new Falcon Menace 1.5-5x30 which is well under my budget. Hence my post.

Does anybody has used this Falcon Menace 1.5-5x30 scope ?

I am never looked through one , so how does the glass compare with a scope in the same class/use/price range, let's say, with the clarity and sharpness of a Simmons WTC 1,5-5x20 ?

For practical type of shooting I like simple reticule . Duplex with illuminated dot is good with me. How do you find the Falcon reticule when illuminated. Looks a tad on the complicated X-Mas tree side ?

not illuminated but the glass quality is probably the same, although the objective lens is bigger. Image is clear and sharp from 100 out to 1000 yards but obviously won't be as bright as say a Zeiss or Swarovski. However I have three other scopes, an old Nikko Stirling Gold on a 22LR, and Nikko Stirling Mountmaster 4-12x50 and and a Hawke Panorama on a couple of air rifles, the last two with IR around the £80-170 rrp mark with 50mm objectives and there isn't much to choose optically between them and my Falcon, which retails closer to £300. At 300 yards yours would IMO be just about perfect, good price, clear sharp, image and the IR is a nice feature particularly in dull or flat light or mixed up backgrounds. The FFP in milrads is useful as the reticle size changes with magnification so directly related to the turret clicks whatever the range.
