I just thought I'd share what all the bother was about.

Really lovely rifle, it would have broken my heart to break her up.

Thanks again folks and have a very merry Christmas.

Nice......I recently sold a 1954 Romanian M44 and bought a 1939 Izhevsk 91/30.The muzzle flash on the M44 was huge!.

What is the legal definition of a knife? Does it need to have a cutting edge down one or more sides, thus differentiating itself from say, a chisel? The M44 bayonet has a tiny (in relation to its length) chisel tip that isn't in actuallity very sharp. Does this mean Plod is coming for my scewdrivers, kebab skewers, nails, cold chisels and tent pegs?
It was working when i left it...........

If I'm correct this is a result of the Custodial Sentences and Weapons (Scotland) Act 2007, which has this definition:
(1)A licence, to be known as a “knife dealer's licence”, is required for carrying on business as a dealer in any article mentioned in subsection (2).

(2)Those articles are—

(a)knives (other than those designed for domestic use);

(b)knife blades (other than those designed for domestic use);

(c)swords;

(d)any other article—

(i)which has a blade; or

(ii)which is sharply pointed,

and which is made or adapted for use for causing injury to the person.

Iain,
I had the misfortune of trawling through that Bill during the initial consultation - thought it was bad then and this hasn't changed my mind, but as cynical as I am, I never envisaged something like this! kukkuk

Can't you just swing it as an 'attached takedown/screwdriver' unit?

Just carry an apple or 2 whenever you take it out, then just claim it's for domestic purposes

The mosin Bayonets are in the classic cross/star shape rather than like modern rifle utility knife style, so it is a pointy implement rather than a slashing blade, but as the legislation has been opened up, it does mean that innocent citizens are now subject to challenge and prosecution if they cannot convince a police officer of their "good reason".
