Our AIA Enfield, "The Goblinator", performs very well. It looks like a jungle carbine but has none of the kick and is quite accurate out to 300 metres. We have no problems hitting a life size fox target at 450 m with it using a red dote sight, though the groups aren't what you could call tight at that range. Part of the problem with the AIA rifles is that they were shipped with the stock bolts deliberately loose so they didn't do any damage as they passed through the hot and humid tropics, and most smiths then sold them on without tightening the bolts...

7.62x39 and not an AK!!!.......an outrage to Mother Russia ussrflag

On a serious note the standard milsurp M43 round is most effective out to around 3-400m and is designed to be centre of mass accurate out to that range, not 1 moa.

I did think about a SKS straight pull from AR Buckland he is now advertising, or a Saiga Sporter from Russian Military & outdoor, so still on the Russian theme but having sold all my Mosin collection thought a change was due.

Well after much do I or don't I buy the Mini 30 another visit to the dealer today to look it over again, and offering the reduced price of £350 I'm now the owner of a Ruger Mini 30 which looks to have had very little use. Now range time is needed.
Thanks to everyone who gave advice.
