Molot KO-91/30

Sorry if I am reopening an old subject but can't be bothered to go hunting through the forum.

I recently found out about the Molot KO-91/30 and KO-91/30M:

They are rather interesting, marketed as new hunting rifles. Just as a side note looking at some Nagant forums they are a source of confused arguments in relation to fake sniper variants. The confusion being caused by an American company called Molot USA and others like AIM selling Nagant as refurb snipers. These on the other hand are pretending to be nothing more then new build rifles. They have different stocks, AK style side rail for scopes (they even do 30mm rings so you could put on a modern scope), different finish and different markings. Apparently they use some components like the receiver from old rifles to form the basis of these new ones but I have no problem with that as they are not pretending to be a mil-surp and my Vz.58 uses some original parts. For me they stand as an interesting addition to the Mosin Nagant world and I am quite attracted to get a tight rifle out of the box. I like the idea of putting a modern dial-able scope on it then working up some loads and use it as a target rifle.

I am going to IWA this year and seriously considering seeking them out and seeing if I can get one, apparently Izmash took them over but their website is live and active. I have a close friend who is recently an RFD and he is joining me at the IWA to see if he can do some networking in relation to importing some different types of guns.

I respect your opinion guys, worth a punt?

On a side note again just to reiterate for the mil-surp purists who's noses must be twitching:

I am interested in the KO-91/30 which is not pretending to be anything but a new(ish) hunting rifle!

That is also why I didn't put this in the Military surplus section.

As I said purists noses will start a twitching which is why they have launched a thousand argumentative threads on the Nagant forums but I am coming at it with a different hat on. I am attracted to a tidy and tight Mosin Nagant, matching numbers and originality not a concern. They are not pretending to be a PU sniper unlike some out there. I think it would be interesting at the range to say the least.

That is exactly what I wouldn't want for:

a) That means I have to go through all the hassle of getting one rebuilt
b) I like the closer but not exactly like original look
c) That it is coming fresh from a factory (maybe even with a warranty)

Hmmm, well as I said myself and friend are planning on IWA this year. If Molot are there again it might well go onto my friends import list, he wants to carve out his own niche.

Would it be treading on FSU connections toes as they import Izmash and Molot is owned by them?

Not really any different to the AIA Enfields in concept... however IMHO the AIA Enfields were a good idea, poorly executed.
