Next Rifle...

#1 Post by HALODIN »

Hello,

I'm considering what to buy for my next rifle and If I wanted to shoot out to the 900 yard level with pin point accuracy in .308 what would you go for? Would you go for one of these or are the other rifles I should put on the list? In terms of priorities it's in the following order - accuracy at distance --> cool factor --> cost.

DSR 1:

AI AX308:

DTA SRS-A1:

Any thoughts?

I would suggest that you try and get behind as many of the options as possible as the ergonomics of each will not suit everybody...I am happy to help you get behind a Desert Tech SRS.

I remember seeing the DSR 1 at Phoenix a few years ago. In front of the rifle was a sign saying..."most accurate rifle in the world" and something about groups...I shoot tighter groups than what the blurb said on the sign. All I have is a Savage O:-)

All I am saying is that do not always believe the blurb. Try it out if you can.

I've shot the AI .308 and loved it, I doubt I'll get a chance to sit behind a DSR 1, but I'd like to take you up on your offer if I may. We have met briefly at Barnwell, but perhaps you could let me know when you're next at the range so we could meet up.

Cheers,

Craig.

The DSR-1 is my dream rifle. It has been since I first saw it. I shot one, once. It still is most definitely my dream rifle. I could sell every bit of my shooting related stuff that I own and still wouldn't come close to the retail price! But, if I come up with the six numbers I'm having three!!

And as Christel said, the bloke who retails them in the UK is, well....... a bit of a "Billy Bull$hitter".....
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!

Sage advice! I guess that's why I'm asking, I know there's a wealth of experience here.

I believe Sporting Services have an AW in stock at £3500 and a few AE`s too.
Might be worth a look on their website.
