The rim diameter is 14,5mm. This can be quite big for the P14 bolt and extractor?

However, not too long ago, a US firms (ASquare I think) was building sporters in monster calibres based on US1917 actions. Should be interesting to Google to find the calivres and caseheads diameter of their cartridges to compare?

Your P14 was desigbed with a bolthead to accept the 303 rimof 13,7mm. It accept the smaller 12mm of the ..308,but will it accept the 14,5mm of the Russian? Also, can the extractor be opened accordingly?

We don't know, RGC, hence our appeal to the larger brained species on these fora to assist our enquiries...

Ah, but does RGC , er, KNOW?

All my reference books on the P'13 & P'14 et al have the dimension data shown in IMPERIAL MEASUREMENTS!
Not a single European zone metric measurement to be seen

wtfwtf

I take it that you ARE aware of the expensive sporterising of the P'14 action by the London gun trade, into 416 & other Express type cartridges??

The P'14 will take most belted magnums and ask for more

Ah, Fat Rat, we don't know if RGC knows. We were just seeking to enlighten him re our lack of knowledge. We do know about the belted magnums and so forth, and think the 7.62x54R might feed well. We'd just like a definitive answer is someone out there knows as we'd prefer to build on a P14 action.

I doubt RGC will thank me for this however I feel it is only fair to explain his background, RGC is French and accordingly works predominantly with metric measurements, additionally he is probably qualified to comment by virtue of the fact that he has designed some highly successfully rifle actions winning many major events. His rifle actions were selected to fully equip the 1999 NZ Palma Team as well as the 2011 RSA Palma Team.

At Brisbane 2011 Worlds Long Range Champs 51 out of 96 Palma Match team shooters were using a C.G (RGC) designed rifle action, with 5vof the top 7 using his actions (1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th and 7th)
