They work OK out of mine as you saw.paulbradley wrote:I'm load developing this week for 1000yds. Rifle is a .308 Remington 700, 26" varmint barrel. I'll be using the lapua 170g LBs and HBC 155s. The 170s have been excellent up to 600 so we shall see. I'll be spending a lot of time inspecting brass for signs of pressure I think.. I'm really enjoying the learning process and the load development and tinkering are a big part of the fun that is shooting for me. I'm glad I selected .308 as it has forced me to read and learn.
If the object of the exercise was to divide the target with a row of perforations then I was a winner!!!
Ruddy wind!
Where the verticals did wander I knew why....bloody great gust and inconsistent firer....they wandered consistently in a small shift of POI....Grrrr
Going to bung some down the range at 1000 next week unless we are knee deep in frogs/cats/dogs/ash/snow/slippers......
Re: 1000yd calibre
The wind was pretty extreme.. I was just pleased to be on paper... The weather is not looking like its going to improve to much this week so we maybe in for some more perforations at 1000..
Re: 1000yd calibre
I have the exact same rifle. The club member I bought it off had great success with Lapua brass and 155gn Scenars with V540. Cannot remember the exact load but likely different for your particular rifle. Mine likes the Privi Match HPBT in 168 out to about 900 when they get a bit flaky. But that's probably down to me.paulbradley wrote:I'm load developing this week for 1000yds. Rifle is a .308 Remington 700, 26" varmint barrel. I'll be using the lapua 170g LBs and HBC 155s. Re: 1000yd calibre
The Prvi match went rather well out of mine actually but only messing about at 200yds. Surprisingly tight groups from factory ammo. I've run Lapua scenars and they ran well but not as good as the lockbases which I can no longer source..

Dont much care as long as the elevations are good Paul.paulbradley wrote:The wind was pretty extreme.. I was just pleased to be on paper... The weather is not looking like its going to improve to much this week so we maybe in for some more perforations at 1000..
It takes someone pretty good to beat that on sunday, I di dnot watch Russell or Tony but I would like to bet they did not score many 2s or 1s, that said I dont think russ was using his F/TR rifle but a dasher.
