Hi all,
I'm not sure this is the correct section, but couldn't find anything dedicated to optics.
I've got an S&B PMII 3-12x50 and have gotten increasingly fed up breaking the Butler Creek scope covers (two within the last month).
I would be grateful for your suggestions for alternatives to Butler Creek covers and, ideally, places where I can buy those alternatives.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Christian

Tenebraex available from Sporting Services, they are not cheap but you get what you pay for.

Christian, I have always used Butler Creek and to date not broken any so lucky I guess. I have a set of Tenebraex here for a customers rifle and they seem OK however they are pricey for what they are and I am convinced if you are unlucky enough to break BC's you will probably do the same with Tenebraex eventually. What about a set of leather scope caps on a strap wrapped around the tube, something like the M41B covers or even a good old fashioned rubber bikini type cover.
If you do find a source for rubber bikini covers in different sizes I would be interested as I am looking for a set for my ZFM.

I make traditional leather scope covers...never heard of a set of those ever breaking

Hi David,
I've never had problems with the Butler Creek covers before and I've used them the last 15-20 years. However, I've broken two pairs recently which made me consider alternatives.
The Tenebraex covers look good, but as you say, if they're the same construction I'll probably end up breaking them as well.
I've ordered a pair of Butler Creek bikini covers of Amazon. They should do the job for now.
Saddler. Thanks for flagging the option. I've been browsing your website, lots of good interesting stuff. It's a shame I didn't come across your site before ordering an M1907 sling from the US. As per above, I'm going with a pair bikini covers, but will keep you in mind if I end up going down the leather route.
