Custom Remington 700+AI Stock
As the thread title, I quite like the look! Only to be used for plinking on the range, more than likely in .308.
Obviously I would prefer a genuine AI, but the cost is hard to justify for what I would like to do - not F class or a military sniper!
There does appear to be a huge cost difference in what you can buy, in fact up to the cost of a genuine AI!
Opinions please.

Re: Custom Remington 700+AI Stock
For me it hits the spot as it provides a taste of everything without being over the top. The AI stock is so well made and it refines the Remington. I have mine in 308 and enjoy shooting it. I have a Vortex scope and as a package l think it is hard to beat for the money.

That's a mighty fine rifle there, Individual. If only it were in 6.5x55SWE...

Re: Custom Remington 700+AI Stock
I bought my remy in an aics stock nearly new (with and optimate 10x42) about 9 years ago for £1200....
Loved it but since it has undergone lots of work and is a real 'triggers broom' different trigger, stock sides, mono pods, adjustable back end, bolt knob, muzzle break, scopes and finally after many years of great service and accuracy mainly out at 600 a nice shiny barrel which has given me a good introduction to FTR and it now shoots even better
Yes it's cost me a load since buying it but has given me a great deal of pleasure modifying it over the years and don't regret a penny of it
Yes going by the good price AI are putting them out for now in the long run it would possibly have been cheaper getting one but all those years ago there was no such thing as an affordable AI so there wasn't much choice.....
If I was doing the same thing now and wanted a great tactical rifle I would seriously consider both options very carefully but as someone whose always taken something and enjoyed making it better a cheap remy/AI option is still worth some thought although it depends what you intend using it for, how good it is and how cheaply you can get it for......
I'm currently waiting for my new FTR to be finished and people have asked me if I'm interested in selling the Remy as it's now in full FTR trim with one of ovenpaa's lovely FTR bipods :goodjob: but I don't think I could part with it as it's been such a faithful friend over the years with trigger and barrel being changed as I had worn them out over the years
Saying that I would still like a genuine AI but not much point now that I've been hooked into FTR smile2
Probably not much help really

I would suggest you get a budget in mind then shop around you have lots of options. Don't forget the optics make sure the scope will have enough adjustment to reach the distance you want to get to.
I picked up a semi custom 308: blueprinted 700 action, boarder barrel, 20 MOA rail, tactical bolt knob, duracoated to colour of my choice & AICS for less than buying a new 700 police and a AICS then putting it togeather myself.

Re: Custom Remington 700+AI Stock
It can be good to buy one that someone has tricked up and is looking to sell. Mine was £1100 all done bought off someone who was giving up full bore shooting. The glass was v basic but it's got a Sako muzzle brake, Timney trigger, 20moa rail.
The above post probably contains sarcasm or some other form of attempted wit, please don't take it to heart.
