Lantac Tactical Competition Rifle

#1 Post by Grahamcs »

Would this be a nice starter AR platform?

I can't make my mind up

The others seem almost double the cost.

Likewise the LMT.

Will it have the same upper and lower for future mods as the other .223 Lantacs?

I have just started on the journey and can't even figure out what to aim for :-(

So confusing not to mention i also fancy a 300 Blackout and rimfire version.

I wonder if the missus will notice they are different if I keep them looking the same and only bring one out of the cabinet at a time!

You shouldn't go wrong with anything Lantac.

Southern Gun Co are also well worth considering.

Lantac also sell the NEA15 which I believe is Canadian parts, selling on gunstar for £1300, may be worth considering.

Can't go wrong with either.

I prefer the LMT though.

Southern gun are good just poor customer service
I have a Lantac Raven Tcr its a good well built reliable rifle. Depending on what you want to use it for go for the 16.75 barrel standard profile for csr type shooting it's what I have and it's fine out to 600 yards.
The heavier profile just makes it heavier for what I do with it.
He doesnt do NEA anymore

You should also consider Bradley Arms. I am on my second AR from Mark Bradley. The first got me 1st place on the inaugural RBL Match with a 100 yard group of sub .25 moa ! And lots of good results at McQueens up against some very fancy bolt actions !

I now have a second one built for lightness as its for Civillian Service Rifle - the other one was heavier with a heavy PM2 scope, moderator, bipod, bull barrel etc.

He built this for me, had it proofed and ready for collection in 5 days if I remember rightly. And he built it to my spec rather than try to sell me what he had in stock / wanted to sell.

I don't know about the other AR builders / sellers but Mark competes with his rifles and that experience shows in his builds.

Finally, his customer service is second to none although his coffee leaves much to be desired :run:

What are you intending to use the AR for? What distance?

The AR is one of the most configurable rifles available and the gun you purchase should reflect it's intended purpose. If you are going to be shooting prone or off a bench, then a heavy bull barrel will be fine, less so if you intend shooting standing at 100 metres at Figure 12 target.

It's a bit like saying "I want a pair of trainers" - you need to buy the one(s) that suits your intended use.

Yes, more for your money if you compare it to all of the others. I already did the cost analysis between Lantac and all the others before I bought my Lantac.
So I bought the Lantac based on price and as it's an AR, you can what you want with it as funds and time permit.
