Daughters FAC appliaction
What do I ask for on her FAC application:
17years, shoots 22 & 308, member NSRA, club & county assoc. Target rifle only. In a GB Squad.
I have 2 cabinets at home: a 6 gun with 8 club guns in it, & a 4 gun with hers, my 2x.22" & 2 club guns in it (hers is on my FAC & the 2 club could be any 2 of the clubs 10 guns as they best fit in)
Club also has a cabinet at a Biz club with 10 guns in it: hers (on the clubs FAC) my 3, & the clubs 6 guns.
There could be 1000x303 & 1000x308 & 40,000x22 ammo in the various cabinets too.
She is a full club certificated member of the club & of 3 other clubs.
She only accesses guns via me or an adult full member as U18. Has no keys to cabs.
... but if i get an FAC now then when she is 18 she as a club member can have access to all club / my guns at Biz & the 4 gun cab at home. (I can keep access to the 6 gun cabinet to me / club only).
Do i put her guns on my & club FAC & ALL my & club guns on hers? - it will be an impressive list! of 303, 308, 22's. or is there a std term that can go on her FAC & mine so we can legally access each others guns.
I own her guns as I bought them but in time they will become her property.
So 3 FAC's: Mine (5 guns) Clubs (14guns) then hers (3 guns 2 existing & a spare 22 slot).
What do i ask for in reciprocal holdings & any advice on the application?

Re: Daughters FAC appliaction
Having briefly looked into this for my partner, I believe it is possible to have wording to the effect of "may also use/possess firearms and ammunition on certificate 123456"

Suggest you get her own guns only on the FAC at the moment. As she is under 18 it will be conditioned for possession only. When she is 18, ask for mutual conditions that you each may possess the guns / ammo held on the other Certificate (Surrey do this for several family pairs - it's really convenient as either of you can possess any of the guns temporarily so you can't be in breach of the rules by sharing cabinets).
Zanes beat me to it!

I would suggest you wait until she is 18 and then get it sorted, go for the joint access. Make sure the access allowed is for both access and use, I know that I have access to all of my fathers guns, but if I want to shoot them I have to have that variation added to my license.
The benefit of this is that you don't have to reside at the same address, because I have a young family I have all of my guns stored at my fathers and we both have full access to guns and ammo which helps if I am working away I can just leave instructions to meet me a the range in the evening with gun x y & z :)

We have something along the lines of:
'The holder of this certificate may have in his possession the firearms and ammunition held on certificate (Certificate number) in the name of (Persons name)

Re: Daughters FAC appliaction
So is the shared condition typically possess only (not use)?
Re: Daughters FAC appliaction
My interpretation is if they can be possessed they can be shot however I have not confirmed this with my FEO.

Hi Ovenpaa, ovenpaa wrote:My interpretation is if they can be possessed they can be shot however I have not confirmed this with my FEO.
not in my experience with my PF, basically I could have access to my fathers guns and his mine, we could transport them etc but I couldn't shoot them without him being there without it being added as a variation.
If I wanted to just have access and transport them it was FoC, but to shoot them I needed to have them added to my license etc.
Re: Daughters FAC appliaction
Ginger, good point and something I will check with my FEO next time we speak. I think the only time we have had to use the condition other than opening cabinets is when I had a competition to shoot and my FAC had not come back so I ended up being chaperoned by the Viking so I could shoot.

Under the Acts, possession always implies authority to use unless it says otherwise, so I'm told, can't find the relevant bit of guidance / case law / whatever.
