What type of scope cover

Although having been a member on here for a while, I'm only just starting out on my Full Bore journey. I've recently been given some Bushnell glass to go on my Remington 700 but I need to protect it. Not just the ends but the whole thing ideally.

How do you guys cover your glass? It appears the options are limited to either neoprene type jackets, or padded covers that strap over the whole lot.

Any recommendations (and where to acquire them)?

BaconButty, protect it from what? I've never understood the folks who insist on covering their scopes in case it rains, snows or whatever. Scopes are a lot more rugged than we give credit for. Hell I've dragged scopes through rain and shine on hunts and they are still on rifles years later and working just fine. I just feel that a rifle scope isn't something that is so delicate that it needs to be protected unless it's looking pretty that your after.

Not having a dig mate, just the way I see it is all.

Given the high cost of good glass I opt to protect my investment!

The metalwork is typically robust but one good scratch is all it takes on the glass.

Butler creeks are easy to use but are fragile and expensive.

Unless you need rapid deployment then try a bikini cover.....(two scope covers on a rubber band basically...cheap but effective if a little cumbersome to use)

DaveT, yeah I agree and I look after my glass as well, but babying the whole scope! :roll: Each to their own, if it floats your boat then do it.

I use bikini covers as well, just to protect the glass when it's in the bag. Good product IMO.

a couple of black cable ties mean you never lose them either

During transport I use Butler Creeks however I would use Bikini style covers if I could find some decent sets.

The usual lens covers, either Butler Creek types or Bikini covers but all of my "expensive" scopes have very good neoprene jackets I got from Scopeshield who do custom sizes at a sensible price.

If I ever need to cover a scope then I find nothing better than a piece of inner tube.
