Great round, anything up to fox out to 200yrds.

Velocity limited (in comparison to the likes of the 222) to mid 2000's fps but everything I've shot with mine have never complained.

Case can be a bit thin so take care if handloading.

I am looking for one but they don't seem to be readily available in any quantity on the second hand market .

No complaints from me about the 22 Hornet :good: Really, really like it.

Hornet is a lovely little round. Very quiet, very cheap. 3000+PFS with a 35gr vmax which rarely exits a fox.

Highly recommended. My old one put 4 shots into 1/2" at 225 yards, so don't let anyone tell you they aren't accurate.

Out of interest why would you choose one over either a .222 or .223?

Stuck,

I have recently tried a 17 hornet and a 204 and was wondering what people thought of the 22 hornet and what they shot with it?

I have a Tikka T3 in 223 that does rabbit, crows, foxes and roe(Scotland)

I'm only a paper puncher Sam so my interest was 100% academic.

The Hornet is quieter and cheaper than a 222 or 223. I did bin mine in favour of the triple, but I needed the extra distance.

Hornet is well suited to when the other 22CF calibre are a bit much - its profile is rim fire, but its punch is centrefire.

It's also cheap and easy to load - H110 meters like nothing else. So fine that I had to replace my Lee powder measure as it would leak out of the handle!
