9mm rifles: SGC LR v VZ MARS
So, with a bit of luck, a brand new license will be arriving at StangGT towers in the not too distant future.
First purchase will be a shotgun, but after that comes a 9mm rifle.
Which would you go for?
Also, what is the effective range of these things?

One of our club members shoots his 9mm out to 100m with great results. He's got the S.G.C.

Re: 9mm rifles: SGC LR v VZ MARS
I have no experience of the MARS but I have a UZI mag LRA9, (one of the originals with the .223 based upper) its a superb gun. I can't sing it's praises highly enough. I have used it for gallery rifle and target shooting out to 100 yds.
The only real drawback is having to root through the grass to recover the empties for reloading.

Thanks for the replies! I'm glad to hear they're good to 100m... That's what I was hoping!
Re: 9mm rifles: SGC LR v VZ MARS
I've shot both and really like both (9m SGC V 223 VZ)... Both were perfectly reliable although I would probably go for the SGC in 9mm. If you were considering 223, I'd probably go VZ based on cost. At £1,600 for a new 9mm SGC LR, I think they're really good value for money and look nicer than the VZ equivalent. If I decide to buy one I'd probably get one from C&G Antique Firearms, they've worked on them a fair amount and have performed stress tests.

Caldwell make a brass catcher for the 9mm, not overly attractive but it works.
It's not the pace of life that concerns me, it's the sudden stop at the end!

With a scope on I could easily get 1-1.5" groups with the SGC 9mm and tge 100m zero is almost exactly the same as 20m
As the Vz 9mm hasn't been released (ho ho ho) yet an accurate comparison can't really be made
