I have just bought the TAB Gear RAS sling for hunting and target shooting, which I can fit to different rifles as required, as this seemed the best for my purpose of all the slings that I looked at enabling me to carry the rifle in a more comfortable position for long periods and to easily set up for prone, sitting, kneeling or shooting over a stone wall etc.
My T4 has a forward QD stud under the Harris bipod and the sniper swivel but no swivel mount on the butt.
I would like to fit a QD stud to the butt, but before I take a drill to my wooden stock, thought I would ask for a few pointers on how to proceed. Will I need to remove the action from the stock, or can I invert the rifle in the vice with the action and scope still attached?
Will a standard wood drill marked for depth suffice, or is there a special drill for the job?
Many thanks

Re: Fitting QD stud to Parker Hale T4
Just mark the position you want the stud to go,make sure it's not going to interfere with any butt plate screws,a suitably sized hss drill will do just fine I normally use one just a bit smaller than the screw shaft( not the thread) just make sure it's straight!

Drill at low speed and take your time and you should be fine. Attach some masking tape first and you can mark the position of the hole and self-regard the area from slips and knocks.
