Luckily many of us have the sense to push the elitist twaddle to one side and just get on with what we enjoy most.

On a personal note I am always disappointed to read of what is bordering on angst between 'rival' forums and anyone who is a member of a few UK forums will have seen a fair amount of it these last few months. If we cannot agree between ourselves what hope have we got for the future of our sport?

Reminds me of that red badge/blue badge thing...
Keyboard warriors Dave. This will be a long one, maggots been riled.

I have yet to slag another forum off, I dont see the point.

We all make mistakes, apparently mine was mentioning CSR. No apologies there.

Mind you, you get the same for mentioning F class.

What worries me is that I give a crap about any of this....what an absolute waste of time, I need to get out more.

Better off out walking or reading a book.

A parting shot though.

For what its worth, I am new to CSR (It was SR when I shot it) but the attraction is immediate. Unfortuneately as has been pointed out people people appear to have internet and actual personas.

I can honestly say whatever experience (or more likely way off the mark "ere Geoff says this so it must be right" pre concieved ideas) you have of CSR, the people involved are all helpful, keen and hard grafting individuals. All have been welcoming regardless.

They take the p*** a lot, its un avoidable but refreshing, you also get equal helpings of encouragement to get on or respect when you shoot well. This comes from all levels of ability, you dont see an entourage or any real cliques.

As regards the CSR forum, something new happened to me on there. I inadvertantly upset a couple of people who, rather than slagging me off and steaming about it publically, gave me a call and talked to me about it. I respect that, so dont always judge a book by its cover. Open it and shagging well read it.

There are them out there that cannot stomach anything that does not fit their blinkered (and usually quite destructive) attitudes.

Remember that my background is Military, so I dont worry about carrying loaded or ready. I was a SAAI and carried out field firing exarcises as SO and Firer. I have also shot small bore and full bore TR, various military comps, and Ftr as well as general shooting...all equally badly, but my point is that I can usually see most points of view and dont come from a background of ignorance.

In the past 2 months my club (F Class) was kicked off a firing point by a "so called" senior TR club because they would not wait for us to finish our detail before falling back. Thats their call, they coul dhave been more diplomatic but such is life. What these people fail to realise is that active ear deffenders allow you to hear all the things you should not...so to the dumpy foreign lady who resembled a cross between a poisonous toad and a tetley tea person, who was mouthing off about the Euros....thanks but do your reserach love :squirrel:

You then had some snot (TR RO again) complaining that we might get hit at the 200 point (CSR Training Day).

All within parameters and given short shrift.

There have been some choice comments on here about carrying loaded or ready rifles down the range. If we dont do it it cant be done type stuff. It is being done, safely, by a growing number.

Its my best guess that this is why the discipline is so protective at times.

Start thinking outside the box folks before we self destruct FFS. Try it, it wont kill you.

Anyhoo, thats me done.

Maggot, CSR by virtue of its numbers is not the biggest culprit, I was watching shooters fall foul of other disciplines at Bisley years ago and have even been on the receiving end of a 'verbal attack' for being stupid enough to book a bench at Short Siberia and assume I was actually allowed to shoot from it. I was expected to pack up and go forth because a club was shooting prone to my right in the afternoon so it was my fault for booking the table. Luckily John G from the range office came down and rear the riot act to the club official who was getting miffed and this is not just a Bisley thing. Visit many ranges with different disciplines being shot simultaneously and you are sure to witness some independent thinking even if it is in a minor way.

I could give many examples however I am sure we all know what I mean. What I will say, yet again is unless we become more aware and more tolerant of each others chosen disciplines and think with a united mind we are all in for a rude awakening at some point.

Shooting is the same as anything else it is the people involved that cock it up.

One of our main problems is the lack of leadership and good role models at a national level. Just look at the divisiveness of the multitude of "national" organisations, how does that conflicting situation come over to newcomers to shooting

Just as there are a-holes at the club level there are also good enlightened clubs with enlightened members as well.

The club I am chairman of welcomes all disciplines/types of shooting so long as it goes bang (or pffit), is safe, and is legal then we will support it.

What we don't tolerate is a-holes, sh!te stirrers or self serving egotists. By denying such people (thankfully they are not plentiful) oxygen, they and their agendas soon fade away.

We share a love of guns and shooting and that is why we form communities of interest be it internet forums or shooting clubs, we join to share our interest and personal differences should be left at the clubhouse door. We need to focus on that commonality which binds us all, gun ownership and shooting not on what or how we shoot. That is what should transcend any differences as that is the primary purpose of communities of interest.

Hell if it was about liking people then there wouldn't be a day of the week when I could go to the club.

In saying that different clubs will have different feels to them and finding one that you are comfortable with will greatly enhance your enjoyment of shooting.
