Russian PK-01v red dot first impressions

Glad you are pleased with it , delivery was quick.I still haven't got mine zeroed yet as I was at Sennybridge with the Dragunovs last weekend and I'm on tiling duties this weekend so I hope to get to my local club range next Saturday and get it sorted.

The delivery was 5 days if you dismissed the sat and Sunday so you can't argue with that, and as I was opening this superbly packaged item, I thought about the batteries I hadn't bought, but thankfully my sister had some in her draw .

Gotta say, I think it's good as you stated, a solid piece of equipment and well worth the money spent, made me smile the instructions in Russian, obviously. Roll on wed

For the price you can't go wrong for a dedicated AK optic.I bought a set of rechargeable batteries, both AA and AAA, and a charger so I've always got fully charged ones handy as the PK-01 and my NV scope take those sizes.My PSO-1 and POSP scopes take button batteries so I bought a load from the local pound shop so I have enough to last me a while!.

Finally managed to get to the range, to sight in the pk-01v red dot.. This was very easy to do, I've also added the badge to measure the size, and the range length was 50m..
Please excuse the flyers, this was mainly due to a throbbing/bleeding thumb, which was really putting me off and a few extraction problems...used steel .223. This didn't help either..

I should have worn my tactical gloves, but didn't want to mark them stupid I know...
Not sure wether the thumb was hitting something, or due to the painful extractions, also felt cases hitting the hands aswell, but one things for sure due to the extraction issues, that numbed the initial awareness of the bleeding thumb...even the bloody stapler was throwing a tantrum.

Looks like the weather is ok for tomorrow, so I may go back and use a different training ammo, I'll try both this time, due to having around 200 rounds left, and also I'll wear the bloody gloves..

As for the red dot sight, can't fault it, and was worth every penny spent on it.

Wouldn't have the slightest clue, didn't know what a VZ58 was until I saw it on this forum.
I think snayperskaya would be the best to answer this, I would like to add though, aesthetically I think it suits the Saiga superbly

If the Vz has a standard milspec side rail most Russian optics should fit......But....a case deflector is usually required to stop the ejected cases beating up the scope or deflecting off the scope back into the receiver due to the angle the Vz ejects at.Not so much of a problem with short optics but I would say the PK could cause problems.I believe Czechpoint in the States make a Vz case deflector, if you check out the Vz58 subforum on ar15.com there is quite a bit of useful Vz threads, just click on the AK-47 subform and the Vz one is near the bottom.
