New Swing mk4

#1 Post by petedea »

Well my FAC finally arrived in the post last week after what felt like an age of waiting.

To be fair to Cambridgeshire Constabulary the long wait was down to my GP taking a 3 week holiday which somewhat delayed a medical report. ignoring that delay the whole thing was turned round in under 3 weeks, which I thought was a very good service.

So I excitedly went shopping at the weekend and blew the budget on a Swing mk4 Target Rifle with a 28 inch Madco barrel and a Fultons adjustable foresight.

There looks to be plenty of life left in the barrel, so I'm now trying to workout when I can get down to the range for a play!

Excited doesn't come close!!

Pictures to follow tonight!

Huzzah! Have you got a foot of gas pipe to get the bolt open with? ;)

I've been building strength in my right wrist for years so don't expect any issues.....!

A little molyslip on the bolt innards does help, but makes for extra cleaning.
Careful now/that sort of thing

Well here's a pic.

Not sure if it's the original stock or not, but all seems to be in good order.

Just need to get it on the range!

That's exactly what I have for TR - Mine has a modern laminate stock; but yours looks like an original...nice :p

It shoots very well up to 900 yards, but the 28" barrel isn't great for 1000...despite the 'stiff lift' and careful loading needed, I like it so much that I think I'd rather change just the barrel than upgrade the rifle...

...I'm sure you'll love it :good:

That's an original stock Mk 3-4 think the Mk 4s had vents milled in. Moly does help with the bolt but not on the sear! NOTHING wrong with 28" barrel to 1000yds from this action, my 8krnds Boarder 28" (or is it 26?!) shoots 1MOA to 1000yds with decent ammo, but its a 1in 12 twist so a little more spin. Adjustable Fore will make the stock fine to use just get the sights on 13moa at 600yds (slip the plates) & the original rear sight is good for coaches as it has both left & right knobs.

Lets the swing fun begin.........
Quality control of Scottish Ethanol. & RDX/HMX

& my fav chemical is :-) 1,3,7-trimethylxanthine.......... used to kill frogs.... but widely consumed & in vast quantities by the French? Eh?
