Looking at FFP Mil/Mil scopes in the mid price range

Presently I have a 10x42 mil dot scope on my 7.62x51 and have been thinking about buying a FFP mil dot variable scope to give a wider field of view when out on the mountain shooting. I will use the scope as now for foxing and target shooting and perhaps stalking in due course. I am comfortable with the mil dot, either the round dots or the mil has variants and like being able to accurately range targets out on the mountain without the need for a laser range finder, so will look for a mil dot with milliradian turrets. I like the idea of staying with a 40-44 objective to keep the scope mounted low and in a similar position to my current 42 objective scope which is very comfortable shooting prone. The only manufacturers I have found with scopes in this mid range price category are IOR, Leupold, Bushnell Elite Tactical and at the cheaper end, Falcon Menace. The Leupold Mk4 LRT looked interesting until I discovered to get mil/mil I would need M25 turrets which puts the scope well outside my price range. Vortex are too big. The IOR scope is the 3-18x42, Bushnell Elite Tactical 4-12 x 44 and Falcon 4-14x44. I wonder if anyone has personal experience of any of these scopes that I am considering and can comment on their use and reliability?

I'll second that - look at the Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 FFP scope, around £670 from Riflecraft.

I shoot the Vortex 2.5-10x32 FFP which is a bit smaller than you were looking at, but a great scope none the less. Even if you went up to the 50mm 4-16 or 6-24 FFP then the additional height mounting should only be around 4mm from where you are today....

I do have a vested interest in Vortex scopes as I sell them too, but a quote today I received from a customer was... "The scope is excellent. zeroed in today and spot on. astounded by how good it is."

Well sounds like I should take a closer look at the Vortex Viper PST, FFP 4-16x50. Thanks for your comments.

I'd also suggest the Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 in both FFP and SFP versions, I have the Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 FFP MOA EMB-1 version on my .300 WSM T3 and love it.

+1. I have the same scope but in mils and it's on my T3 308win. Great scope, nice clarity and very useful to see your holes at 100m! I usually keep mine at around x12 mag for long range so that it's easier to stay on target after shooting. The Mil holdover is always true irrespective of magnification.
