I believe only BSA and Fazakerly made them with Faz making the majority of 180,000 therefore BSA are rarer and i guess more collectable. Expect to pay from 650 to 850 depending on dealer/ condition. If you want to check if its a genuine No5 there should be 'fluting' where the barrel joins the breech and various lightening cuts. As usual forgotten weapons has a great video on them and they go into detail on how to spot a fake. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P75mXWv_-0o

I shoot solely privi although i want to reload, it should be fine for general shooting and remember they're not target rifles :D

Take your time and have a look about, if you want originality don't buy one of the former Indian Army examples (all refurbished and restocked at Ishapore (very dark wood and large lateral screw through the forend, plus butt circular cartouche is the give-away).

Really good ones are out there, but not cheap as has been said.....oh and another thing, make sure its Birmingham or London proofed!

Thanks for the tips. Everyone else too. Keep them coming. As I said, I don't have a slot yet and am not looking to impulse buy, but if something comes up thats right, then I'll put the effort in to acquiring it :)

Hi Tat
I can understand the BSA thing.im after an Enfield made SMLE Enfield. i live in Enfield, work half a mile from the old RSA Enfield factory and my former next door neighbour (now dead) worked in the pattern room and as a kid we went to their open days.

I know the one you mean- I was thinking of going to look at it but something didn't seem right somehow (and I bought a trijicon and .308 bullets....). Seemed very cheap, even with the issues listed.
