Ladies and Gentlemen

There is no need for a Witch Hunt, the Admins received a communication (not necessarily a compliant) about receiving a PM from me promoting a Charity Shooting Match. The addressees were listed as Registered Users as a facility at that point existed to allow PMs to be sent to groups, one of these being all members of the forum. Now whilst I don't think for a minute that I abused that facility it could be misused to send non-shooting related PMs. As this is an open form then I suppose anyone could join with the express intent of spamming the membership when they have sufficient posts to be allowed to PM. So to protect the membership from spam PMs the facility has been removed.

Apologies if, as a member of a 'shooting' forum, any of you received an unwanted PM from me about a charity 'shooting' match. If you are so concerned about possibly receiving 'shooting' spam PMs perhaps you should disable the PM facility on your account or just block PMs from me as I can still send you PMs; it will just take a little longer in groups of 5 at a time.

Thanks to all those that have expressed support at my intent and to those of you who have donated to the RBL Fund.

Messaging forum members about a charitable event is hardly 'spamming'...and it's using the PM system, not email...I really can't see why anyone would bother to complain.

Mardy gets.

There's no way I can take part but was still interested to read about the competition and COF... How many unwanted emails do folks get in an average day and they grumble about a couple of on-topic ones?

Good luck all who are shooting in it, sounds fab :)
