Old threads - what happens to them ?

I have noticed that here on FBUK, old threads dont get deleted.

On the other forums I frequent, threads which are seen as redundant are deleted. Especially on For "Sale" or "Wanted" threads once the item is sold or found etc. The Mods seem to worry that the threads ( especially with photos ) are taking up too much room ?

Just wondered whether space is an issue here ?

Is there a "voluntary" deletion option available for what the OP now feels is a redundant thread ?
