Is it a Vostok by any chance?.....I've got four Vostok Komandirskies and they aren't too bad to mend. Two of them ran slow but very easy to adjust and they now keep perfect time.safetyfirst wrote:My Russian watch broke today. Gutted. $12 on eBay for a vintage soviet watch. Loved that thing.
Most "watch repairers" won't even go near an old manual wind for less than £50 :(

I've got a few of these copies, they have a Seiko movement and keep perfect time. Not bad for a tenner.safetyfirst wrote:My Russian watch broke today. Gutted. $12 on eBay for a vintage soviet watch. Loved that thing.

The Russian Officers watch is quite a bit different from an original and the actual watch size is bigger25Pdr wrote:I've got a few of these copies, they have a Seiko movement and keep perfect time. Raketa this one. I have a vostok too, a Ukrainian society for the blind 75th anniversary flip top watch! I guess it's for feeling the hands.snayperskaya wrote:Is it a Vostok by any chance?.....I've got four Vostok Komandirskies and they aren't too bad to mend. Two of them ran slow but very easy to adjust and they now keep perfect time.safetyfirst wrote:My Russian watch broke today. I've still got a British Army G1098 watch. Had it cleaned once years ago and it still keeps perfect time to this day.

I bet I could make a youtube vid where a BMW M5 crosses terrain that defeats a Land Rover - does not mean the BMW is a better off roaderchannel12 wrote:However when they did the same test with an AR-15 !

Never let evidence get in the way of the AK myth
The AK failed, the AR passed, end of.
Unfortunately as we can't have semi-auto's we can't replicate the tests over here.

Re: The unstoppable AK
How dare you! How dare you come on here and suggest that an AR may be as good or better than the holy grail of rifles the AKchannel12 wrote:However when they did the same test with an AR-15 !

Well yes, it does in this case.I bet I could make a youtube vid where a BMW M5 crosses terrain that defeats a Land Rover - does not mean the BMW is a better off roader

Re: The unstoppable AK
To be fair - all that video shows is that an AK stopped after one round after being covered in mud. That's it that's all it shows.
Stoppage drills have chuff all to do with the effectiveness of the firearm - the stoppage drills don't make the firearm better or worse, they're how to return it to service asap.
The fact that an AR in the same wheelbarrow test fired more than one round - also proves not much, just that in that very particular hardly scientific test that one time (that we know of) the AR faired better.
We all love AK's and AR's but let's knock it off with the incessant fan boyism, this is a gun forum not bloody Windows vs Mac you fecking nerds!
Disclaimer - I have an AR, a Dragunov and a slot for 7.62x39 that is probably going to get filled by a Romanian (as opposed to me filling a Romanians slot
) so I think it's safe to say I'm not biased either way - no?

Which model is it ? It might cost you a big tenner but I did get some of my Komandirskie serviced. Alternatively you can buy a brand new movement direct from Russia for around £ 25
Wash you mouth out with soap and water
Sorry - No soap on empty shelves... Wash mouth with vodka !!
