Re: NSRA RCO Qualification
Pinched from Dudley rifle club
Lightweight Sport Rifle
Calibre: Up to .22" rimfire (smallbore) or .177" to .22" air or CO2.
•Overall weight: NO MORE than 4.5kg with all kit included (glove/scope).
•Trigger pull: Minimum of 500g (1.1lbs), NO HAIR TRIGGERS.
•Magazines: Not to be loaded with more than 10 rounds, not mandatory.
The main difference between lightweight sport rifle and 25yd prone target rifle is that the rifle are magazine fed and are usually fitted with Optical (telescopic) sights, however, as shown in the definition above, any specialist clothing or equipment such as jackets or slings are not permitted. LSR can also be shot in the standing position without a rest/support.

Re: NSRA RCO Qualification
So an NSRA qualification does not cover you for any centre fire shooting then.
Following that logic then they are not deemed competent to RCO underlever shooters using 38 special for instance.

My NRA RCO course covers me for gallery rifle as outlined by yourself above.dromia wrote:So an NSRA qualification does not cover you for any centre fire shooting then.

I'm unaware of where anyone suggested the NSRA one does cover centrefire gallery rifle.

Re: NSRA RCO Qualification
Plenty of clubs I know use the NSRA qualification as demonstrating competency for RCOing centre fire underlever shooters.

They can do what they like as long as they comply with range standing orders & insurance and it is not on a DE/ MOD range.

Re: NSRA RCO Qualification
I realise that see my previous post.
However they are basing the competency on a qualification that doesn't offer any competency for that.

Re: NSRA RCO Qualification
So basically...in order to renew as an RCO and be able to RCO at MOD ranges it has to be NRA issued.

Re: NSRA RCO Qualification
I did the NSRA RCO course last year. Definitely does not cover anywhere near enough to be competent with centre fire and the typical ranges and reloading that go with it.
