What is your favourite rifle 'scope?

#1 Post by ovenpaa »

Old or new, what is your favourite 'scope and why? It does not have to be the the worlds most expensive or even used for those one mile shots, just your favourite.

I must admit to a preference for European glass and own nothing badged as American.

My IOR tactical 4 x 28 is the mutts nuts!
The tactical turrets are superb and the schott glass is superb.
The 40mm tube gives masses of elevation.

Simmons WTC 1.5-5x20 (Philippines version)

Superb little scope, I have 3 of them, can't find anything else that could replace them without paying stupid amounts of money :)

I am fast becoming a fan of the Philippines built Simmons on Rimfire rifles, we have a couple 3.5-10X on our own rifles plus a 4-12X sitting on a CZ for sale. All three are superb glass for the money.

I can't honestly say that I have a favourite. All my scopes have different characteristics, but I suppose if I had to choose one it would be the Fox 10-40x50E-SF with target dot reticle.

Until today I'd have said ... ... ...
  • Nightforce ATACR 5-25x56 (.308 Tikka T3)
  • Swarovski Z6 3-18x50BTL (.308 Sauer 200)
  • Swarovski PVS 6-24x50PL (.300 WSM Tikka T3)

All are superb, But I'd say it's highly likely that the Nightforce is going tomorrow in favour of a Kahles L1050 MOAK which I'm going to see. Failing a trade-in, the Kahles comes home with me anyway and the Nightforce will be up for grabs on here, UKV etc.

I have others by S&B, Zeiss, Vortex and Minox.

I'd have to say as I have 2 of them on different rifles, my Bushnell Elite 6500's - although they're by no means the best scopes available. they're incredibly good for the price.

Recently purchased an S&B 8x56 Hungarian, but waiting for it to be delivered so can't really pass judgement.
