10 months for importing Glock Section 5 parts...
This is a joke. What happened to the mandatory minimum 5 year sentence?
Add to the firearms violation the drugs charges and 10 months is not a deterrent, it's an advert for low risk for high gains criminality. What an abysmal let down by the prosecution service :(

It sounds almost like he wasn't convicted of the firearms offences, just the drugs.

It seems the parts never actually made it into the UK.

I wonder if he'll even serve the full ten months. Perhaps he'll appeal on the grounds that imprisonment will interfere with his holiday arrangements.
Nothing surprises me any more.

Looks like he was working on a prototype handgun of some sort. These part were for a 9mm Glock revolver. :)Rockhopper wrote:It seems the parts never actually made it into the UK.

It reads like the parts never got to him so he was never in possession, so he can't be charged with the offence that carries the mandatory 5 years? CPS sentencing guidelines seem to indicate that he could've been charged with an importation offence which comes under a Customs and Excise and possibly explains the lenient sentence!?

Hoperfully gone for good. Mandatory sentencing is not just or fair and has no place in society. IMO of course...This is a joke. What happened to the mandatory minimum 5 year sentence?

Reads like he was just some nerd who made a error of judgement, a defence anybody could adopt.
