Stickledown target size

#1 Post by shugie »

We were having fun in the wind on Stickledown yesterday morning, and one brave soul decided to engage the targets with his Lee Enfield using standard sights. He did get two shots in the black, but we were trying to work out a visual reference for the amount to aim off.

But how wide are the Stickledown targets, I've never marked them so have never been close?

Sticks targets (The frame/white) are about 10ft square if memory serves.

I was there yesterday shooting snaps on targets 48-50. The wind was diabolical, and even worse at 300 yards in the afternoon.

That would make my advice of aim one target to the left not far off in yesterday's breeze then.

Back in the Easter Meeting we worked out we would need 2 targets to the left, then 3 minutes right.
Unfortunately they wouldn't let us shoot until it got below about 20 minutes of wind at 900x.

We were trying to get one shot on each of four Fig 11s on the backer.
