Scope advice

#1 Post by S2sosmart »

Just bought a second hand Tikka T3 Lite and now in the market for a secondhand scope. Final aim (Excuse the pun) is deer stalking. Ranges 100-200m Max.

The budget that I have is £400-450. I would love to be able to put more into that but I've still got a bipod, range finder and DSC course to somehow get past the wife.

I've seen a couple of Burris Four X's on gun trader but any advice is gladly taken.

Forgot to mention, my shooting experience up til now has been .22 target shooting from about 10 then through the military system for nearly 20 years. Finally got back into shooting last year with an air rifle (I do a bit of pest control at work) but wanted to move back into full bore. Now work on a country estate where my bosses are keen to get me into deer management.

TIA,
Si

Easy one.
A second-hand 6 x 42 from Zeiss, S&B, Swaro, Meopta, Docter should be easily had for that money, leaving change for a set of Opti-lock rings & bases.
The Stalking Directory forum is the best place I've found for second-hand optics.

Welcome to the forum, Burris would be a good start for new and you can also look for second hand ideally something variable from 6-10/12X magnification which will work well for Deer. What is the T3 Lite chambered in?

Thankyou folks.

Triffid, I'll get on it right now aaarggh and thanks for the heads up on s/h optics. I'll go have a look there in a bit.

Ovenpaa, it's in .308. I considered .243 but the bosses suggested that if I ever move up to reds then 308 would probably be best. The way I'm planning to get into deer shooting is quite old school in its outlook for calibres.

Also try here.

They have a very good reputation for second-hand optics.

Seen 2 Vortex Vipers in my price range.

Saw the Vortex's at the Northern shooting show and the warranty kind of blew my mind. Don't get many companies with that much confidence in their products nowadays tbh.
