Perhaps someone with knowledge can answer this question .

Could I legally place a deposit on a firearm with a dealer who is over 100 miles away from me ?

Ok so the seller when transfering a firearm to an RFD should fill in the RFDs FAC?

As an RFD I do not accept deposits on firearms unless they have a slot for it on their FAC. To accept the deposit could be seen as giving you title to a firearm you have no right at that time to possess if you have no slot for it on your ticket, that is regardless of the distance or whether it would need to be sent or collected.

RFDs do not have FACs, unless it is their own personal one which is not used for RFD transactions.

The seller has to notify the certification authority that they have sold the firearm to whom and confirm that they completed the appropriate tables on the buyers FAC.

The seller records the sale to the buyer and the RFDs record the transfer.

Looks like your being deliberately obtuse now, you think it all wrong, do as I suggest and take it up with BASC, GTA, Home Office and the Certification departments seeing as how you see this internet thread as having no value just being full of opinions. They will give you chapter and verse on it no doubt and as you think it only guidance you can tell them you think it not appropriate and will not be complying.

Be sure to let us know how you get on.

Hang on I did not mention a buyer.

if a person who transfers a firearm to an rfd then that person does not need to do anything but tell their local firearms dept what they have done.
If the rfd then transfers the firearm to another rfd then both of the rfd's do their notifications.
Then that rfd who now has possesion of the firearm can then transfer that firearm to someone with an FAC.
that rfd fills in the FAC of that someone.

No rules have been broken.

Would this not work.

BFHB

As I have said many times speak with those who who are implementing this as to whether rules have been broken on this, I don't know why you keep asking on here when it is only a forum full of opinions that have no basis in law from your opinion.

I will not help you speculate as to how one might break the law and have four people complicit in it, for me it is the intent of the original owner at the time of transfer to the RFD, if it was to give title of a firearm to someone who at that time had no permissions to take possession of the gun then it is just the same as if money had changed hands and illegal, but then that is just my opinion and I would be glad to be advised different by someone with the legal knowledge.

Let us know what the Home Office, Basc, the GTA and firearms certification say when you put this current postulation to them.

As Christel has said what happened before seems not to be acceptable to the powers that be and today things are supposed to be done differently, custom and practice seems to have no bearing on this.

How Fultons or anyone else chooses to operate is up to them just as how I choose to operate is up to me.
