Made up some chamber safety flags & a couple of slug designs on the 3D printer today, the slugs use M4 & M6 screws/bolts to add the weight needed to have a chance at accuracy.
I'll need to weigh them & possibly adjust with different length & profile bolts before I can work up a load for them.

Next on the agenda are some magazine extenders for the Bora 99 5 & 10 round mags if I can get the hang of the 3D design software I'm using (Autodesk 123D)

Lots of ready made files available on the interweb & even Tacomm host files of their old products that you can print at home (Matchsavers, Caddies etc.etc.)

Those shotgun slugs look like dogs breakfast - not even concentric!

Maybe time would be better spent making up molds that you can then cast the slugs from?

Got some slug molds ta, 2xLyman & 2X Lee, the above was just a 1st attempt & I will be tweaking print bed & Filament nozzle temperatures along with print speed & materials used.

It's a work in progress, you stick with your 18th century work tools & I'll improve mine

Solidworks supports printing to 3D if you have access to it.

Cheers, it's on the list of things to look at but I'm trying some of the free software at the moment, of which there is plenty around.

Lot's of different printing materials around now, wood based, carbon fiber weave & water soluble for making casting forms to name a few.

So hard to choose. I like he boxy one that has three heads, extruded print, mill and laser cutter/engraver.

I'm waiting for the sls resin ones to become affordable print wise I think, though the extruded ones are really really good now.

Me too! it's on my to-do list for when I retire in a couple of years. Wifey says I don't need one so I made her watch the Supervet and told her I could repair our dog with one

I've made a few bits of weaver rail and there are a lot of weaver rail mountings for things like cameras, torches, phones etc.

I use an UP! 3D printer, apart from anything else this comes ready assembled, just plug in and go. Beware the ones that come as kits, they tend to take A LOT of assembling and can be quite fragile.

These printers run off .stl (stereo lithography) files that are generated by exporting (not save as) from a 3D cad package. For simple things I use 123D Design by autodesk, its free!
