Removing Berdan primers

RUAG in the UK still sell Berdan primers

Slightly O/T but I'll ask anyway. What happens if you try to resize steel cases? I'm thinking of the 7.62R and whether you could reload them if you did get the berdan primer out.

Ha! Just found a Hydro Punch and after some negotiation it is at a worthwhile price. I am looking forward to getting my hands on it :)

Now you just need the primers - RUAG prices for them are dreadful!
I use old primers that have 'come my way' over the years - I have a few thousand and they're mine all mine!
Steve at Brancepeth armoury had some in his armoury at one time - I don't know if he ever got them out and sold them

This is what I use to de-cap 7.62 Nato Berdan cases.

I drilled a I mm hole in the end of a coach bolt and fixed a drill shank in place with Loc-Tite.

I then ran a clearance drill through the end of a Lee chamfer tool to accept the case anvil and use it to remove the crimp in the primer pocket

I just sit a case in a shell holder on the bench, locate the pin in one of the flash holes and tap the primer out.

You must not be too heavy handed however, as a drill bit that thin is easy to break. I use a pair of pliers to tap out the primer.

No water no mess.

Simples!

Funny enough Prime Reloading made a die with two pins in it - I have one. I use fish hook shanks for the pins. The Wamadet is the go to piece of kit
