Trafalgar meet

#1 Post by TomEnfield »

Gents,

How good is the Trafalgar meet these days?

It's a 610mile round trip for me, is it worth it?

I'm looking to do some historic rifle shooting at falling targets and purchase a Martini Enfield and Martini Henry from the show. Will it have this?

I used to go and put on a table to sell my boolits and stuff. However the attendance has diminished significantly over the years
Purveyor of fine cast boolits.
All round good guy and VERY grumpy old man.

I doubt there will be any falling targets if you mean steel plates or ETR type arrangement. Never have been any at Bisley - not in recent years.
The Martinis would be pot luck as well.
May be worth getting hold of Jim Hallam and asking him about the rifles.

I have been to every Trafalgar meeting. Attendance did fall off a few years ago, but for the last two years it has been increasing. The nature and entry level of the competitions evolves: for example, in the old days ( pre-pistol ban), there were very low entries in disciplines for classic rifles---303 etc. Now, the longer range rifle events attract the biggest entries. This is reflected in the prices of original guns and parts in the trade show.
