I ask as I have a ring that I want to weld so that it does not twist - its permanently fixed to the base. It can be done from under the base in the hole that the ring slots into.
Why ? The rear ring is a long cantilever so, a knock on the scope allows a TINY twisting movement on the front ring. Barely noticeable but enough to lose zero. Its for stalking so I need to be confident in the zero.

I have taken off the front base and it looks like the bayonet part of the ring could be permanently attached to the base from underneath / behind the base, with a big blob of weld.
I just dont know if the steel in rings and bases CAN be welded ?
