Imperial Meeting Bisley 2011

#1 Post by Christel »

All the links to all the events over the next few weeks until the final on the 23rd of July can be found on the front page of the NRA website.

http://www.nra.org.uk/

It was the Historic Arms Meeting during the weekend just been, Dromia and Dodgyrog both attended and from what they have said it was not very busy.
Guess people have gone on holiday?

If in doubt about anything I am sure it is ok to contact karen who is a member here. Ok karen?

Or skint as Dromia said.

Sign of the times maybe or just not the right time of the year? I do wonder how the other years have been?

I'been a regular to the Historic arms weekend as a shooter and more recently a trader for many years and this was dire. Its always on at the same time at the start of cadets and schools week and usually you couldn't get in HBSA the trade tent for people especially during lunch time. I don't think there was time over this weekend when there were more customers than traders in the tent.

The Phoenix was also way down on people visting the trade stands and there just seemed a lot less people around then too.

The cost of living is definitely hitting the shooting sports at Bisley methinks.

I barely covered my costs!
The time and effort that went into the preparation were most definitely NOT rewarded.
I wonder what the NRA/NSC have to say on the matter as it must be worrying for them!

Sorry to hear it was so Dire Adam/Rog. I always though the Phoenix was the warm up for the Imperial and accordingly Imperial would be the better of the two meetings.

Its a sign of the times wage rises pegged inflation is way above the official figures.
I dont spend any were as near as much as I used to on shooting I got to consider paying the house old bills before I can fork out on a tub of powder for example over £60 a kilo now.
A days shooting with range fees 2 or 3 guns 50 rounds through each travelling food etc can easilly set me back between £100 and £150 for the day. You do that twice a month.
It gets silly. Im afraid the sport is pricing it self out of the market.

My daughter has a gizmo that shows the cost of the electricity she is using - it is absolutely frightening what it costs. No doubt all consumables (especially food and power) are horrendously expensive.
I believe the usage of cars has dropped over 25% due to the cost of fuel.
It doesn't leave much for hobbies.

Sorry you two had such a waste of time...hope you made some good connexions even if the trade wasn't up to it.

Well, apart from clashing with air shows and the like, I guess from a marketing standpoint there needs to be more targetted advertising of your presence at these places, like adds on NRA website, here and GT etc.

I was going to surprise you with a visit as I was in Bracknell over the weekend, but Son in Law didn't fancy the 8 mile run over to your meeting. :cool2:

I for one am not spending much on new bang sticks since the recession didn't start.

Keep up the good work chaps.
