There's been rumblings that tnt has now quit transportation of factory ammunition in the uk......thus producing a massive increase in ammunition cost....has anyone else heard or can anyone else elaborate?

Can't elaborate but I have heard the same from a local RFD.

He has recently (marginally) raised his prices due to currency exchange rates but warned another rise was likely to come due to this issue.

I was told this at my recent visit to a wholesaler, I collect my own ammunition stocks to keep costs down anyway for customers and the wholesalers said that more RFDs would have to do as I do to get ammunition, that is what I was told I am not saying it is fact but there would be no reason for the wholesaler to make it up either.

I suspect the exchange rate will have an effect especially as the shipping to the UK is paid for in the foreign currency as well, the price of US primers is already going through the roof. CCI large rifle primers are now £43.50/1000 retail at Kranks for example and Federal are dearer.

I'm not sure how wholesalers or importers will manage as they too have to get the stuff shipped to them.....tgat is the big thing,tnt apparently quit transportation of ammo 2 weeks ago........with who left to fill that transport need? so how's this going to work if nobody will ship ammo from one place to another? Unless the ammo comes in by boat and the suppliers move to the ports of arrival?

This was confirmed to me recently by a well-known RFD.

Perhaps there is a niche business opportunity here for a man with a van?

However I do agree that there is a opertunity for a national courier.....

There are plenty about, DHL, dpd, and private operators...

TNT stopped shipping anything ammunition or firearm related on the 17th November (From memory) ParcelForce continue to ship firearms only and FedEx appear to be shipping expanding missiles although they may not be aware of it! Kranks offer a palletised service for GBP42.00 inc VAT and apparently will ship primers, powder, firearms and live ammunition on the same pallet as long as the ammunition does not fit the firearm.
