Plastic, brass or alloy?
Any one better than the other for not damaging/fouling the barrel?

I'm getting the cleaning kit together for when my guns arrive so only need jags and rods now as I think I have everything else sorted.

I use undersized (worn) bronze brushes, they hang on to the patches much better than jags.
