I honestly don't know how with a straight face they have fighting terrorism as the context/#1 priority of this legislation with the way it is written now. I've drawn the short straw at work and will be working til closing on Friday so I guess i'll be spending the day firing off emails.

This little doozy seems to have slipped passed everyone too (not that it applies to the UK);

"semi-automatic long firearms (i.e. firearms that are originally intended to be fired from the shoulder) that can be reduced to a length of less than 60cm without losing functionality by means of a folding or telescoping stock or by a stock that can be removed without using tools;"

Actually, it already applies in Great Britain - S5(8) Firearms Act 68 has the same effect. For the purposes of subsection (1)(aba) and (ac) above, any detachable, folding, retractable or other movable butt-stock shall be disregarded in measuring the length of any firearm.

When I said "If I've read that correctly," I was hinting the document seems to contradict itself. At one point it says this is a future amendment and then proceeds to inform the reader it's been banned. It's not written very clearly. If I was a betting man, I'd say the mag and other bans noted below are pending further support from MEP's.

A ban of dangerous semi-automatic firearms. These include automatic firearms transformed into semi-automatic firearms, long semi-automatic firearms of length less than 60cm, long semi-automatic firearms with loading devices of more than 10 rounds, and short semi-automatic firearms with a loading device of more than 20 rounds.

Plus there is a bit further down that says about 21 rounds fitted without reloading etc

The trick of creating chaos and then seizing power under the pretense of putting things back in order is a tried and true method of deception and manipulation. It's the meaning behind the Latin motto: ORDO AB CHAO meaning ORDER OUT OF CHAOS.
