Worth getting an AK re-barrelled?

There have been suggestions about what different ammo to use, but what ever you buy / try I would suggest that you give the rifle to the best shot you know to put on a rest and shoot. If he / she can't get the groups you are looking for then just accept it for what it is and get another rifle for target work and keep your AK47 for fun.

The Zastava M76, nice rifle that is essentially a M70 on steriods.The Iraqis built a version built under license from Zastava in 7.62x39 called the Tabuk.M76 accuracy is around 1.5 MOA with decent ammo and the ZRAK scope is similar to the Russian PSO-1 used on the Dragunov.

The M76 or the PSL in straight pull would be both appreciated, considering Oleg is getting in Romanian AKM I wonder how difficult it would be to persuade his suppliers to do the latter.

Another thing that I would love would be a straight pull RPK, again the Romanians do a variant.

His reply would most likely be, is there a market for them as SP in the UK because he would have to order/buy a load to make it worth the while making them. He has been trying to sell the SVD's & AK's at a reduced price the SVD's by £200 before Christmas, and had recently 15 wood stocked type left + the folding ones + the Bulgarian made ones. A fair bit of money tied up...

Now a Zastava M76 would be nice.

RPK-slim chance...but he talked to Molot and this was promising but ban for arms from Russia got extended for next 6 months....

All the Romanian AKs come from Cugir via Waffen Schumacher in Germany who are the main distributor.Molot (that manufacture the Vepr range and the RPK) aren't on the sanctions list directly so I wonder if a blanket ban on Russian firearms is in place.My Romanian AKM has "Made in Romania by RomArm Cugir" and "imported by WaffenSchu" laser etched on the side of the receiver and the WS at the start of the serial number also refers to Waffen Schumacher.

Oakrise Arms had the straight-pull PSL advertised but it was withdrawn, I wonder if this is due to the straight-pull market being tiny compared to supplying them "as is" to foreign markets that still allow semi-auto rifles to be held.

The main reasons for AK "inaccuracy" (though more than accurate enough for what they were designed for) is the chrome-lined barrel and the use of mass produced milsurp ammo.The Zastava M70 variant doesn't have a chrome-lined barrel and even with milsurp ammo are noticeably more accurate, although they are more susceptible to corrosion if not cleaned properly after shooting corrosive military ammunition.

If a straight-pull RPK was available I would certainly be interested, especially in 7.62x39 with Soviet laminate and a 40 round Bakelite mag or three

My SVD is the one rifle I will not sell (and possibly the SKS), I'd rather shave my eyeballs, and I don't think you would regret getting one especially if used at somewhere like Sennybridge for the type of shooting it was designed for.On F Range at Sennybridge it is in it's element.

Sigh I miss Sennybridge F range but now I live in the Highlands it is a bit of a pain to get to, I would probably have to fly to make it practical.
