Safe Shooter Cards
I recall reading somewhere that currently qualified NRA RCOs do not require a Safe Shooter Card in order to shoot on MoD ranges. Anyone point me to this piece of policy?
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Re: Safe Shooter Cards
If you are an NRA qualified RCO then that means that you can apply for an NRA issued Safe Shooters card.
Not sure if that is only for NRA members who are NRA qualified RCOs or not.

I'm sure I've also read somewhere that you need either/ or, not both.
I'll try and find it...

Or if you are a full annual member & have competed in an official NRA competition (imperial, CSR, Spring Action etc) then you can apply for a free 5 year SSC.
RCO card is accepted in lieu of a SSC. I dont think a club coach is as there is no card only a Cert & badge & you dont need to be an RCO to do the club coach course.
ONLY NRA SSC are accepted by MOD, the NSRA ones are not valid for full bore.
If you are as a club running a Guest Day at Bisley then you have to have a qualified NRA RCO in overall control of the range.

An, now we're getting somewhere, thanks Phil.
Do you know where that is written? I am sure I read that somewhere but can't remember where. I was having a conversation this evening with another of the club officials and mentioned this. In our club of about 120, there is something like 30 of us are qualified NRA RCOs. As we are issuing cards again I mentioned that for the RCOs we didn't need to, no one else seemed to be aware of it. I need chapter and verse where it is written....

Grief I will need to hunt in piles of paperwork but certainly at the Range Office show an RCO card they dont ask for a SSC (unless your RCO is limited to one discipline & your hiring another discipline range or gun).Sim G wrote:hitchphil wrote:RCO card is accepted in lieu of a SSC.
