Policing and Crime Act 2017
It seems that the Policing and Crime Bill received Royal Assent yesterday which opens the door to the eventual reclassification of expanding ammunition to S1.

“We welcome the firearms sections of the Act. In particular we are pleased to see common sense prevail over expanding ammunition, which will no longer be classed as prohibited...(however) Peter Glenser, BASC Chairman and a barrister specialising in firearms law, said: “There will be little immediate change as most of the Act will involves Rules, or secondary legislation, which have yet to be drawn up."

How many RFDs will sell expanding ammo to standard fac holders remains to be seen even through the law is now clear

Its still not going to come into force until the Home Office has issued technical guidance to the police which isn't expected until the summer, according to the Countryside Alliance

Re: Policing and Crime Act 2017
Will the 8 week "grace period" or auto-extension do much to solve the backlog and delays in the police systems?
There will be less work to do issuing Section7 permits but how much time does it take? Will some forces now just move their target to have them completed at the end of the additional 8 weeks? And when they fail, have to issue S7 permits?

It would be interesting to find out what the current and proposed (once this change comes into effect) targets are for FEO's turning grants/renewals around in. i.e. x number of days before the expiry date/the expiry date/extension date etc

The turn around/resource issue is being partly addressed by their "less FACs/less firearms held" targets which will generate less demand.

Yep that's the met police policy ! Any excause to revoke (not to protect the public or stop the wrong sort ) if they could, they would pull someone's fac for a parking ticket ! Yet at the same time they buy themselves more firepower and wear more paramilitary type clothing !

Honestly Joe, less paranoia please...
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?
