Pushing along a FAC application...

#1 Post by pbrazendale »

Hi all,

Been waiting on the FAC now for going on 3 months, any suggestions on how to push it along?

Don't really want to do an email rant just want to get some info on what happens next and how long it's going to take.

Cheers

Phone them and ask if there's anything you can do on your end to reduce any potential delay.

3 months thats nothing new FAC applications in Essex are taking a year, and they do not like being contacted to hurry them along. Chap has a SGC already and applied for a FAC been waiting almost 10 months.

It's GMP I was, they have a phone line that only allows you to speak to them if you have an urgent enquiry, not sure it's appropriate chasing a FAC.

According to the BASC survey results from a few months back, the average time for a FAC grant by GMP is 102 days, so at 3 months now, you might not be too far away?

Every time you ring them slows the process down even more...

I sent my renewal forms to TVP last July and my FAC expired in November.

At the end of January I sent the FLD a polite email explaining that I needed to buy some primers and the next day the FEO phoned to say he'd been asked to expedite my application. The new FAC arrived two weeks later.

It can't harm your case.

I would definitely follow up with them.

I recently put in for my FAC renewal 3 months in advance - I telephoned about a week before expiry to chase and they had taken my mobile number down incorrectly from the form and had been leaving messages to arrange the home visit.

In their defense the FEO came around at seven the following morning and they expedited to save me hassle of placing firearms with an RFD.
