I want a few different rimfires on my FAC but...............

What is good reason to have say 5 or 6 rimfire slots?
My "good reason" which probably wont be accepted is that I fancy a change every now and then.
I have seen people with quite a few slots for rimfires so it can be done but how?

Scoped and unscoped bolt actions, scoped and unscoped semis autos? That might give you 4 slots, I'm sure someone with more knowledge could give more

Back up guns, assuming you do the odd comp, in case of failure during a comp.. potentially gets you two of each type.

Just write a letter with your application staying which competitions you want to shoot and that each rifle is for a different competition. Make them sufficiently different like gallery rifle, bench rest and mini rifle. This got me 4 slots.

Varying disciplines would be one reason, add overland and you can soon have a lawful reason to hold half a dozen however at the end of the day you can only ever shoot one at a time. I seem to go through rim-fire variations at quite a rate, probably a couple a year as I am yet to find one I am truly happy with for my chosen uses.

Have you tried the AR7 takedown rifle? You won't find a rifle you're faster to put back up for sale than that.

After the obligatory from Russia with love moment.

As Ovenpaa has said, different disciplines is the way to go. I'm up to 7 at the moment, and I haven't even touched mini rifle yet. ;)

Not sure yet Tom but I fancy a few different setups.
Ive currently got 2 RF slots, one for a semi and one for a bolt action.
But seeing as Ive got RF slots and not LR slots it opens up the choice a bit so I want to use that choice if possible :D

Have you filled those slots you talk of already? Or are you looking to fill your cert with a bunch of vacant slots?

If not it would definitely be better to fill those slots you've got before asking for more. you could then show that you are actively filling them and not just after a lot of slots. An easy way to add an additional couple of slots would be to ask for moderators for each of the rimfires, even if you don't want a mod for each one. it's an easy justification and then they can later be changed via 1 for 1 to another rimfire slot without the additional charge for an additive variation. You might still get asked why you want them, but as mentioned, different competitions or disciplines should suffice.
