Sorry I seem to have missed "for a problem that didn't really exist" bit in you previous post.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but (living a stones throw away) I'll think you'll find that Hungerford is Thames Valleys patch... and the wrong side of Froxfield which is the border with TVP.

Your right it is, just on the border but within the tv area... I always thought it was wiltshire.....

I have just had mine changed so that just being a member of the NRA was justification enough. I did not want to be stuck with being a member of a club that did not support my chosen discipline as a condition. Hants were fine with that.

AFAIK Wilts have accepted email copies of my 3 club membership cards as proof of good reason - not heard back from them so assume all OK. My FAC does not expire until end of June so plenty of time to correct any outstanding matters. It was interesting to be told that this new way of doing things was a "risk assessment" and if all OK there would be no reason for an FEO to visit. Could this be a sign that someone has decided that shooters might actually be trustworthy? Or may be a cost saving and Damn the consequences. Wilts have always been efficient in all they do, so unlikely this is a backwards step from them.

When I changed address a few years back I fitted the cabinet in the new property and sent of my certificate etc with the new address and was awaiting a visit from a FLO to ensure all was good when a letter arrived containing a form for me to fill in, sign and return which asked if I had taken reasonable steps to secure my firearms, what fixings I had used to secure the cabinet and was everything in order......this was returned to my licensing authority and my certificate arrived a week later with no visit.

My certificate is up for renewal at the end of the year and as it will be probably be a simple renewal without making any variations etc am I likely to get a renewal visit or will I just be issued a new certificate?.

With the Met Police, I called them to say I was moving my cabinet and they asked me "Will it be securely fixed?" I answered "Yes" and that was all. Some take a sensible approach and could be based on how you come across during early face to face meeting as to how they deal with future renewals or moves. I am sure that you file is marked with an unwritten code that tells them what you are like.
